Netatmo unveils Smart Smoke Alarm and Indoor Security Siren

Netatmo has introduced two new smart home products to its home security line, the Smart Smoke Alarm and Indoor Security Siren. The HomeKit-compatible Smart Smoke Alarm sounds an 85 dB alarm to alert anyone inside the home when smoke is detected, and sends a message to a user’s iPhone that specifies which room contained the smoke. There’s no limit on how many Smart Smoke Alarms a user can install, and all can be accessed through Netatmo’s security app or Apple’s Home app and independently named based on their location.

For false alarms, the sound can be silence manually or from the app. The device includes a 10-year battery that will last for the life of the detector. The Smart Smoke Alarm runs weekly diagnostics to make sure it’s in working order and delivers those reports to the app.
The Indoor Security Siren is designed to work with the company’s Welcome indoor security camera, sounding an “ear-piercing” 110 dB alarm when Welcome’s face recognition technology detects an intruder inside the home or the company’s Tags are moved on a door or window.

The device also sends an alert to the home owner’s iPhone with a specific message—like “unknown face seen” or “movement detected on the garage door”—along with video of the event. The Indoor Security Siren can also be set to shout a range of pre-recorded messages—like “The police are on their way”—and programmed with specific instructions for when a user is on vacation. The siren can be hard-wired or powered with batteries, but it needs to be installed within Bluetooth range of the Welcome camera to function.
