Streaming content provider Netflix posted a significant loss of US subscribers following launch announcements from Disney, HBO and Apple. Today, NBC Universal has joined the bandwagon with a release set for April 2020.
Steve Burke, CEO of NBC Universal has detailed that their new streaming service will be launched almost the same time as Warner Media’s HBO Max, and a few months after Disney+ and Apple TV+ goes live.
Streaming service specifics aren’t revealed for NBC Universal’s plans, but we can expect The Office to jump from Netflix to NBC after the series’ deal is concluded by next year. Content for the new streaming platform will come from external sources, more specifically from UK telecoms firm Sky and Sky Studios.
Apple TV+ is set to have a fall launch, with teasers and previews from original content such as For All Mankind, Snoopy in Space, See and others making the round. Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but it’s only a matter of time before they’re announced.
