Q: Okay, I did an ‘oops’ with my iPhone when I was trying to print a single page of a big PDF using AirPrint, and I ended up sending the whole stupid thing to the printer. It’s 385 pages in all, and now I can’t figure out how to make it stop. I’ve tried closing the app, even rebooting my iPhone, but when it comes back up, it starts printing out again.
I’ve had to keep the printer turned off, since every time I turn it on it wants to start printing from my iPhone again. How do I get rid of a pending print job from an iPhone?
A: iOS actually does include a ‘Print Center’ similar to what you would find on the Mac, but it’s only available when you actually have pending print jobs in the queue, and even then it’s a bit hidden from normal view. To access it, you need to bring up the App Switcher by double-clicking the Home button.
If you have any active print jobs, swiping to the extreme left of the Home screen will show you the Print Center.
Note that you may have to swipe to the left past the Handoff screen if you have a Handoff-compatible app like Safari open on your Mac or iPad.
Once in the Print Center, you should find a ‘Cancel Printing’ button at the bottom of your printing status.
