Apple has updated the specs page for its new HomePod, officially listing the audio sources that can be streams to the wireless speaker.
The list basically holds no surprises, confirming earlier reports that the speaker would offer full support for iCloud Music Library via Siri, with the listed sources also including Apple Music, iTunes Music Purchases, iCloud Music Library, Beats 1 Live Radio, and Podcasts, while also acknowledging that the HomePod can also of course receive any other audio streams via AirPlay.
A footnote adds that Apple Music naturally requires a subscription, and additional details on the specs page also reveal that the speaker will support all of the typical Apple-supported audio formats, including the recent addition of FLAC to the list, as well as 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO and support for peer-to-peer AirPlay.
Notably, although Apple also lists Bluetooth 5.0 among the wireless specifications, the HomePod will not support Bluetooth audio streaming at this point, although Bluetooth is likely used to communicate with an iOS device as part of the initial HomePod set up process.
